The Foundation for Montana History (Montana History Foundation) supports community-based history and heritage preservation projects by making grants and sponsoring projects to preserve and interpret Montana’s rich history.

Statement:

The Foundation leads the state in making grants to community-based organizations interested in saving and interpreting Montana’s heritage. We help save historic buildings and cemeteries from disappearing. We help make artifacts accessible to the public and assist communities in preserving the legacy of their elders. We do this through grant making, educational programs, and by partnering with other organizations to preserve our history.

How we help:

With help from donors like you, the Carter County Museum in Ekalaka has created a heritage orchard, the Carnegie Library in Lewistown repaired its beautiful facade, and the town of Gardiner has turned its historic opera house into a community center.
